Overview

Blown-In Insulation in Central Texas

Most attics we inspect around La Grange have somewhere between 4 and 8 inches of old, settled insulation. That’s roughly R-11 to R-19, well short of the R-49 to R-60 the Department of Energy recommends for our climate zone. Blown-in insulation is the quickest fix.

We blow loose-fill fiberglass or cellulose evenly across the attic floor, around joists, wiring and can lights, to a measured depth. Most attics are finished in a single visit, and in most cases we can blow right over what’s already there.

FAQ

Blown-In / Loose-Fill questions.

Have a different question? Call (979) 242-3976.

How deep should my attic insulation be?

For R-49, roughly 17 to 20 inches of blown fiberglass or 13 to 15 inches of cellulose. We’ll measure what you have and tell you exactly how much to add.

Usually not. If it’s dry and clean, we blow new insulation right on top. We only recommend removal if it’s wet, moldy or contaminated by rodents.

Most homes are finished in a few hours to one day, depending on attic size and access.

All loose fill settles slightly over time. We install to the settled depth needed, so you still have your target R-value years from now.
